That's when I found out about the Machine Learning course on Coursera by Andrew Ng. The next couple months will be dedicated to paying attention to Andrew Ng and what he has to say about Machine Learning. It seems like a good course. I feel like I've found a good point to build and solid background. If time permits, I'll write about my experience with the course...which is free. If you're reading this and are interested, I recommend the course.
Thirty days ago, I set a target of learning to use Artificial Intelligence in my own software. I knew nothing more than that others were working on it using Python libraries, and that deep learning was a very popular new paradigm. Using only Google searches, I found PyBrain. After a short week with PyBrain, I found other libraries or frameworks, but very specifically, I found TensorFlow. I watched several tutorials and begin to pick up on keywords like "linear regression" and "gradient descent". I quickly found that I was unable to have a coherent conversation about the topic of machine learning with my data scientist coworkers which caused me to seek out yet more videos and podcasts on the subject.
