Enter Team Treehouse with Purpose driven tracks. In a single weekend, I went through a couple beginner level tutorials, and already have a bit of confidence for creating limited purpose Android apps. Very limited purpose, but I've already branched out beyond the Beginner level tutorials and started working with buttons to launch web browsers aimed at specific URLs - the kind of thing I did when I first started learning to write code for WinForms. It's crazy how much it all feels like a guided repeat of my first year of programming. Of course, I'm bringing to bear several years of experience on this Android app development, so I'm really hoping that by the end of May 2018, I will have a few TensorFlow powered Android apps available in the Google Play store.
I have long been a Pluralsight subscriber. When I worked for someone who didn't provide a Pluralsight subscription, I paid for my own. It's just so worth it to be able to go watch videos about a new technology or to brush up on fundamentals of a programming language you've never used, but have a sudden need for. I still find Pluralsight to be a very valuable resource. Like all those big technical manuals full of information, Pluralsight is geared very heavily toward the explaining and teaching the technology. I've long been interested in Android development, but the offerings at Pluralsight have always been a little too exhaustive.
